Jikoji Fire Protection
Donation Drive
Dear Jikoji Sangha,
Over the past year we have done much work to protect the facilities at Jikoji We’ve done clearing and chipping of many areas. This spring and summer we continue keeping the weeds and leaves from the buildings. We’ve protected the vulnerable parts of the outer buildings with a fire-resistant siding, installed new sprinklers on the roofs. Some of the important work left to do in the short term includes
Installation of a water mister that will protect the decks;
Installation of a pumping and fire water storage system that will utilize approximately 2 million gallons of water in the Jikoji pond for fire fighting purposes;
Cutting low branches and removal of dead and down material in the woods; and
Removal and chipping of highly flammable brush on both sides of Peters Creek--upstream from the pond.
We estimate the need for $30,000 to move ahead on these projects.
Jikoji will be grateful for whatever donation you can make to help us meet these fire protection goals. Donations may be made at our Donate page.
