Chiezan has been a resident monk of Jikoji's sister temple Sokukoji in Battle Creek Michigan for more than ten years. Chiezan was transmitted by Sokuzan Roshi of Sokukoji, who was transmitted by Shoho Michael Newhall Roshi of Jikoji.
