Pamela Chobun Nenzen Brown was introduced to sitting meditation practice in 1976. Forty years later, as her father was declining with a neurodegenerative disease, she decided to stay seated. In 2017, Pamela met Sensei Gary Koan Janka and has been sitting with Santa Barbara Zen Center ever since. Koan Sensei introduced Pamela and SBZC to Jikoji; Pamela was ordained in Kobun Chino Ottogawa Roshi's lineage by Shoho Michael Newhall in 2020 and received dharma transmission from Jakko Eso Vanja Palmers at Felsentor, Switzerland in 2022.

Blending meditation and somatic practices, Amanda Graham has been a practitioner of zen and yoga for ten years. Certified Yoga Teacher through Prajna Yoga, she colorfully weaves traditional asanas with Feldenkrais and Hanna Somatics. Many of these practices are floor based to allow the body to sense and feel into its present moment experience. She is also the Retreat Manager at Jikoji Zen Center and appreciates simply living with sangha in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
