At Jikoji
Rohatsu Sesshin
Sunday, DECember 3rd - Sunday, December 10th
Jikoji would like to invite you to Rohatsu Sesshin, commemorating Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment 2500 years ago with continuous transmission of the Three Treasures through the generations to the present moment. In honoring this tradition and the coming of winter, we reflect on this existence as it is. Rohatsu is a sesshin in total silence, with no talks, services, or dokusan. Just silent sitting, walking and eating together for seven days. You may attend all or part.
Rohatsu Sesshin is led this year by Oshin Jennings. Oshin is a Guiding Teacher at Jikoji Zen Center, senior dharma teacher in the Phoenix Cloud lineage of Kobun Chino Roshi, & leader of the No Barrier Zen Sangha and has taught at Jikoji regularly for the past few years.
Those attending will be asked to help with some of the duties during sesshin, help with doan-ryo, help in the kitchen, help with serving meals and cleanup.
All are welcome! Please sign up below to register for the Sesshin. Oryoki meals are provided. You can reqeust Oryoki instruction when registering and we also recommend this video overview.
