The natural spring at Jikoji is the source of fresh water that fills the small lake behind the zendo. The majority of the maintenance is performed by a family of ducks and an abundance of turtles and fish who work to keep the water clear. Unfortunately, in their travels, the ducks encountered a few invasive species which they brought, inadvertently. So, on occasion, we are called to help these sentient beings in keeping these waters clear and tranquil. You are invited to put your zen practice into your favorite water tolerant shoes and join Jikoji in a day of clearing the debris (duckweed) from our eyes (water). Zen work doesn’t get any more metaphorical than this.
