New Year's Eve at Jikoji

Ring in the New Year – and the New Decade –
at Jikoji!

It all begins New Year's Eve with a pot luck social dinner, followed by a Dharma Talk and then meditation and personal reflection on the year past. As the year winds down, we perform a simple ceremony of repentance and renewal, writing down our regrets and the things we will work to transcend, then burning the paper in a bonfire. 108 Bells are rung and bows offered to begin our efforts toward renewal. Then, a celebration in our Community Building.

Next morning, join us for a special New Year's Day meditation, beginning with a gentle early morning hike along our trails, then breakfast, followed by periods of zazen (sitting meditation) and kinhin (walking meditation) into the afternoon.

Overnight accommodations may be booked on our Reservations page or by writing to our Guest Manager.
