Jukai Ceremony

The lay ordination of Kathy Kermit

You are invited to join us at Jikoji on Friday, February 14, for the lay ordination of Kathy Kermit, our friend and a sangha member of both the Floating Zendo and Jikoji sanghas. This simple Zen ceremony, called jukai, will take place following the conclusion of our annual Nehan-e sesshin and marks the beginning of Kathy's life in vow. She will receive the Buddhist precepts, a rakusu, lineage papers, and her Buddhist name. Angie Boissevain, Kathy's teacher from Floating Zendo and the founding director of Jikoji, will conduct the ceremony. All are welcome to take this step with Kathy.
