Join us as we spend an extended weekend honoring the memory of Jikoji's founder Kobun Chino Otogawa Roshi. This year, our Kobun memorial will be held at Jikoji and available over Zoom.
We begin with a social dinner, followed by some periods of sitting. Our formal program starts Friday, with a full day of sesshin-style sitting. Saturday continues with our sesshin format throughout the lunch period. After lunch, our traditional afternoon Kobun Readings begin, with a discussion of selections from the Kobun Archive.
Saturday will include the Zen Priest Ordination of Tetsuhō Christopher Kolon. The ceremony will be followed by a community luncheon
Our special Kobun weekend continues into Sunday morning. During our regular Dharma Talk, we will have our traditional Memorial Service and Procession to the Kobun memorial site and offer incense while chanting the Daihi Shin Dharani.
Those attending will be asked to help with some of the duties during sesshin, help with doan-ryo, help in the kitchen, help with serving meals and cleanup.
All are welcome! Please sign up below to register for the Sesshin. Oryoki meals are provided. You can reqeust Oryoki instruction when registering and we also recommend this video overview.
