Earth Day & Earth Store Jizo Celebration

Jikoji celebrates Earth Day and Earth Store Jizo Bodhisattva Saturday, April 22 on its beautiful springtime temple grounds! Everyone who would like to celebrate our shared Earth and help create a space for Earth’s special Jizo Bodhisattva is welcome. Jizo comes from the Earth to protect and guide children, mothers, fathers, travelers, and anyone who has known grief. Bring your open hearts, small garden tools, and gloves if you like to touch the earth.

Jikoji will offer a delicious lunch for all who participate. 

Schedule (subject to change)

9:00 Meditation

9:40 -10:00 Orientation to Earth Day and Earth Store Jizo Bodhisattva

10:00 -10:15 Walking meditation to Meadow Garden and Jizo Shrine

10:15 - 11:50 Touching the Earth, Creating the Garden

Noon: Lunch, Cleanup, Open time to explore temple grounds

1:45: Touching the Earth, Creating the Garden

3:15 - 4:00 Honoring the Earth and Ourselves

Suggested donation for the day, which includes meditation and orientation is $25.

All are welcome and none turned away for lack of funds.

No experience with meditation is necessary.
